Fundraising 2011:

This is a special year since we have been lucky enough to get approval by the Conseil des Arts et Lettres du Québec (CALQ) - which means that the Québec Government gives us $2 for every dollar raised. This grant expires October 19 2011.

We will be launching afund raising campaign in March 2011: please give generously, a percentage of the money raised will go to the establishment of a foundation and a reserve fund for the Village.

Volunteer:

JOIN THE VILLAGE VOLUNTEER FAMILY

Volunteers have been an integral part of the Village since its creation and have an
important role in daily operations and ensuring an enjoyable visitor experience.

Let us know what you are interested in and we will come up with some great ways
for you to get involved. Below is a sampling of some of the areas in which
you may be willing to share your time and talents.

  • SITE IMPROVEMENT

Site improvement volunteers help get the site ready for the season and keep the site clean and tidy throughout the summer. This includes:

  • Spring Cleanup Day: A one-day site cleanup to where volunteers clear walking trails, dead trees and brush, clean houses, paint and do minor repairs.

  • Community Planting Day: Fun for the entire family! Bring your extra vegetable plants, flowers, trees, shrubs or seeds and help beautify the Village.
  • Gardening: Set up your own vegetable garden or flower bed, get together with friends to create a community vegetable garden, help to plant and maintain Village gardens, or make garden markers.

  • SITE ANIMATION

Training is available for those interested in acting as a tour guide or animating a house. Tour guides help provide visitors with accurate historical information about the site.  Volunteers may also choose to help animate a house dressed in period costume.  In addition, craftsmen and women are invited to demonstrate their skills and sell their products in the general store.

  • SPECIAL EVENTS

Events such as Canada Day, the Blue Grass Festival, Sunday afternoons in the Gendron and others require volunteers for ticket sales, food service, photography, bartending and security.  Volunteers can sign up for shifts for one or more events.

  • MARKETING

Volunteers can assist with bulk mailings, place site literature at hotels, restaurants and local businesses and distribute posters prior to special events.

  • COLLECTIONS

Volunteers with an interest in managing and maintaining artefacts and genealogy collections are welcome.

Perhaps you have a skill not listed above that you believe would be useful.  If so, please let us know.
